What we provide

Engage is our mentoring support programme. We offer 1:1 and/or group-based sessions that are personalised to the child or young person's needs and co-constructed with the referring school or agency and their parents or carers.

Our approach

Our relational-learning approach ensures we can support every child or young person, whether in their education setting, at home, in their community or a combination of these.

Areas of focus

Whether it’s focused on play, youth, education or a combined approach, we can provide targeted mentoring support that works with a range of children and young people in the community or in educational settings.

Some examples of mentoring we provide:

·      Improving children and young people’s self-regulation, resilience and respect for themselves, peers and adults

·      Supporting children and young people’s social, emotional and mental health by strengthening relationships within the family home so the child or young person has a strong foundation

·      Supporting parents to engage with their child’s education

·      Working with children and young people and their schools to tackle barriers to attendance and raising their educational aspirations

·      Positive activities that reduce antisocial behaviour, crime and serious youth violence

·      Reducing the risk of fixed-term exclusions and preventing permanent exclusions

·      Aiding transition back into school after the holidays.

Changes mentoring

Children and young people at risk of, or engaged in, high levels of anti-social behaviour or serious youth violence are often vulnerable to child criminal exploitation, both as victims and perpetrators.

Through LPW Changes, we advocate for children and young people, support them to access the help they need and offer a range of relevant and targeted interventions. This includes:

• 1:1 and small group support in school and/or the community

• youth workshops (in school and in youth settings)

• detached youth work

• training to upskill professionals working with vulnerable children and young people

Our approach

In our experience, children and young people engaging in, or at risk of, anti-social behaviour, serious youth violence and child criminal exploitation are seldom heard. They are often furthest from education, employment or training.

We understand the contextual safeguarding in the communities in which we work and we have close links to other agencies, professionals and schools.

Through our 1:1 and small group mentoring, we provide consistent opportunities for children and young people to engage, to build trust and to see that they have choices and can make positive changes.
